The 2006 AED/Qualcomm Executive Forum, Sept. 7 and 8 in Chicago, will focus on the theme of “Lean Distribution,” examining if “lean” principles can work in a distribution environment.

The forum will focus on improving business processes that add value and eliminating those that don’t. Concrete examples of how the application of “lean principles” will improve customer, employee, supplier and shareholder satisfaction will be offered.

Historically, manufacturers have focused more on process and improvement than dealers have, because of a more predictable business process. The executive forum is designed this year to demonstrate how distributors are managing and leveraging the inevitability of the variability of their environment. Also industry economists and analysts will discuss 2007 economic conditions. Moderated by veteran consultant and moderator Mike Marks, sessions will include:

  • “Lean Distribution; Another Trend or a Way of Life?” featuring Marks.

  • “Are Great Management Principles Universal” presented by Dr. Jeffrey Liker;

  • “What Does Lean Process Improvement Look Like?” presented by Sharon Garavel;

  • “The Lean Sales Organization” presented by Todd Youngblood;

  • “The Future of Field Service” presented by Steve Roth;

  • “Getting Started in Lean” presented by Joe Gufreda;

  • “What’s Driving Wall Street” presented by John McGinty.
