AmQuip Crane Rental today named Charles Snyder president and CEO of the company, effective Jan. 17. Snyder will also join AmQuip’s board of managers.
Snyder is best known for his recent stint as executive vice president of fleet operations of Sunbelt Rentals, and a member of Sunbelt’s board of directors. Prior to Sunbelt’s acquisition of NationsRent, Snyder was chief operating officer of NationsRent, and had a long career with AMECO, a subsidiary of Fluor Corp., serving in several executive capacities including president.
“Charles is a seasoned executive with over 35 years of domestic and international experience covering all aspects of equipment sales, rentals, product support, logistics and general management,” said Richard Bard, chair of AmQuip’s board of managers. “He brings leadership skills that will help us build upon AmQuip’s successes.”
“He has the record of accomplishment and broad-based experience that our board was searching for,” added Andy Grapkowski, the chair of the board-appointed search committee, and a director representing Lehman Brother Holdings, an investor in the company.
AmQuip Crane Rental, based in Trevose, Pa., is a leading U.S. crane rental company, with operations servicing the Northeast, mid-Atlantic region and most Midwest and Southern states. Shareholders include Altpoint Capital Partners, Bard Capital, Wesley Group and Lehman Brothers Holdings.
“Charles has a unique background that includes both fleet management and sales and marketing experience and he has also managed a sizeable crane fleet earlier in his career,” said Yuki Narula, an AmQuip director who represents Altpoint, AmQuip’s largest shareholder. “We believe he is the ideal leader of our management team.”
Snyder told RER that AMECO had about 700 cranes at its peak.
Snyder replaces Frank Bardonaro, who stepped down as president and CEO in August and later joined Terex Cranes as vice president and managing director of the Americas region.
AmQuip Crane Rental is No. 15 on the RER 100.
