The Global Rental Alliance last week announced that its first international rental exchange is underway, with the second to begin early this month.

Todd Daymont, manager of American Party Rentals in Durham, N.C., traveled to Melbourne, Australia, last week to begin working at Harry the Hirer in Richmond, Victoria, Australia, just outside of Melbourne. He will work at the company through October, specifically on events for the AFL Grand Final, the championship game of the Australian Football League on Sept. 26, and the Melbourne Cup, Australia’s major thoroughbred horse race that’s been held since 1861.

In early September, Michael Hayek of Kennards Hire P/L in Sydney, Australia, will travel to the U.S. to begin his rental exchange that also will run through October.

The international rental exchange is a partnership between the member associations of The Global Rental Alliance to advance careers in rental and increase worldwide awareness of the equipment rental industry. The ARA Foundation facilitates the program on behalf of The Global Rental Alliance. The Alliance associations include the American Rental Association, Canadian Rental Association, DLR of France, European Rental Association, Hire Association Europe, Hire Industry Association of New Zealand, and Hire and Rental Industry Association Ltd.

Both Daymont and Hayek will write about their experiences for a blog on The Global Rental Alliance website, www.globalrentalalliance.com.

The ARA Foundation, www.ARAfoundation.com, is a 501(c)3 philanthropic organization supporting the equipment rental industry since 1976.
