Bellingham, Wash.-based Birch Equipment this month will honor United States military veterans — both employees and customers — for their service.

Birch employees will be granted a paid day off on Veteran’s Day if they can still fit into their military uniform — an offer that has been on the table for the past 16 years. The first time a Birch team member qualified was two years ago, when mechanic Frank Doering marched into work sporting his dress blues from his service in the U.S. Navy.

From November 8-15, customers who come in to rent equipment from Birch are encouraged to bring in proof of military service for free Birch gear and entry into a drawing for a $50 Birch gift card toward Husqvarna products.

Birch Equipment, with stores in Bellingham, Anacortes and Mount Vernon, Wash., and Sitka, Alaska, is No. 94 on the RER 100.
