Volvo Rents has selected national, non-profit organization Homes for Our Troops as its charitable partner, aiding in the construction of new homes for injured veterans. With commitments to build 35 homes this year, Volvo Rents will be assisting Homes for Our Troops by donating construction equipment to each build location, along with volunteers to support injured service men and women.

“Volvo Rents has always played an active role in the community and we thought this was a natural fit to offer our services and equipment to local projects and a great way to thank these heroes for their service,” said Nick Mavrick, vice president of marketing for Volvo Rents.

Since 2004, HFOT has been building specially adapted homes for severely injured veterans, and in those six years has built or renovated more than 80 homes, provided at no charge. The organization raises donations of money, building materials, and professional labor and coordinates the process of building homes providing maximum freedom of movement and the ability to live more independently.

“We would not be able to support so many injured veterans without the fundraising and support from local businesses like Volvo Rents,” said John Gonsalves, president and founder of HFOT.

Volvo Rents will be providing services to projects in various states including Colorado, Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas, Texas, Maryland and Wisconsin. Mavrick said Volvo Rents will paint some of the construction equipment used on the sites red, white and blue in honor of the cause.
