Volvo Rents Introduces Consumer Application on Android Phones
Volvo Rents now offers its mobile app for Android phones. The original Apple iOS app was released in July 2010 and has undergone both minor and significant updates since its release. After the most recent renovations in July, Volvo Rents launched the app for Android. The only contrast between applications is that the Android app is 100-percent customer facing while the iPhone version is also geared to employees for use on company phones.
“Our iPhone App has been a phenomenal success,” said Patrick Farley, manager of sales technology for Volvo Rents. “Even with this success, we realized that not all of our customers have Apple products. With the launch of our Android mobile app, we now have applications on the two most dominant mobile operating systems that exist today — Android and iOS.”
The application offers material and support for customers in a comprehensive, streamlined application designed to allow them to access product information, new models and specs for equipment, added RSS Feeds, and store location data. The app also includes full interactive manuals from different manufacturers, which saves time for customers searching and comparing different equipment.
Volvo Rents customers using the Android app will have full access to equipment content, and have the ability to download and save equipment specifications and product documentation for all Volvo Construction Equipment rental products including backhoe loaders, excavators, skid steers, wheel loaders and compactors. In addition, users can view equipment specifications, product brochures and manuals for Volvo CE and Volvo Rents-approved partners, including but not limited to Doosan, Genie, JLG, Magnum Products, Multiquip, Skyjack and Wacker Neuson. Users can also email the equipment brochures directly from the application.
“As smartphone sales continue to increase globally, our strategy at Volvo Rents is to offer as many customers as possible the easiest way to access the construction equipment content they are looking for,” Farley said. “Not only do we have specifications and product brochures for Volvo CE models, but we also have similar content for many of the types of machines our rental stores offer.”
