Barnhart Crane & Rigging, one of the largest crane rental companies in North America, continued its growth earlier this month with the acquisition of Mountain States Crane, Albuquerque, N.M., the company reported on its website. The acquisition includes Mountain States’ operated crane rental service as well as all staff and equipment. For Barnhart, it was its fifth acquisition this year and its first in New Mexico.

Barnhart vice president and southwest regional director Chris Howe said the acquisition complements the company’s branch in Arizona as it expands further into the Southwest.

“Over a period of more than 25 years, Mountain States Crane has earned a reputation for superior service in crane, rigging, and heavy haul by focusing on safety and customer satisfaction,” Howe said, adding that Mountain States provides crane and rigging services within a 400-mile radius of central New Mexico.

Earlier this year, Barnhart acquired White Crane, West Columbia, S.C.; Baxter Crane, Tupelo, Miss.; and Holland Crane, Forest City, Iowa. In June, Barnhart added international branches for the first time with the acquisition of NCSG, based in Acheson, Alberta, Canada. In addition to its corporate headquarters in Acheson, NCSG operates branches in Bonnyville, Calgary, Edmonton, Fort McMurray, and Grande Prairie, Alberta; Fort St. John and Terrace, British Columbia; and Regina, Saskatchewan.

Barnhart Crane & Rigging, based in Memphis, Tenn., now has more than 60 branches.
