2G Energy AG Acquires a 50 Percent Stake in LC Systems
2G Energy AG has acquired a 50 percent stake in LC Systems GmbH, based in Ahaus, Germany. Through this strategic investment, 2G is further deepening its long-standing collaboration with the specialist in container solutions while strengthening its technological edge and its own value chain in an area of strategic importance.
LC Systems is part of the Wenker Group, a family-owned business that has grown successfully over many years and is headquartered in Ahaus. For decades, the company has been a reliable partner to 2G, supplying the internationally active manufacturer of sustainable energy systems with high-quality container solutions.
LC Systems has extensive expertise in the development and manufacture of container solutions and carries out key stages of the manufacturing process in-house – from welding and assembly to painting. Through the investment, 2G secures access to important manufacturing capacities and expertise in an increasingly dynamic market environment.
Strengthening supply and delivery security
Containerized energy solutions are becoming increasingly important as energy systems become more decentralized and global energy demand continues to grow. In particular, container solutions play a key role in high-performance, modular energy generation systems.
The key benefits of the investment include:
• securing technical know-how for a key component,
• increased supply and delivery security, and
• safeguarding important manufacturing capacities.
Another important factor is the close geographical proximity of the two companies. The locations in Heek and Ahaus enable short coordination channels, close operational collaboration and efficient logistics processes.
“By acquiring a stake in LC Systems, we are deepening a strategic partnership that has grown over many years and creating an even closer connection between our companies,” said Pablo Hofelich, CEO of 2G Energy AG. “LC Systems has an almost unique level of expertise in container solutions worldwide. In particular, its stackable container solutions for use in data centers and peaker power plants set new technical benchmarks. The ability to stack containers weighing up to 40 metric tons is unique worldwide in this form. This expertise and manufacturing capability are of major strategic importance to 2G. At the same time, we are strengthening our own value chain and securing important supply chains and manufacturing capacities for the long term. This creates an important foundation for our significant expansion in a dynamically growing market.”
Malte Vögeding, managing Director of LC Systems, added: “Our companies have already been connected by a long-standing and trusted partnership. With this investment, we are now creating a shared long-term perspective and can combine our respective capabilities even more closely. For LC Systems, the strategic partnership with 2G opens up additional growth opportunities while also enabling us to further develop our manufacturing expertise and know-how together.”
The investment therefore represents a strategic partnership from which both companies stand to benefit. Together, 2G and LC Systems intend to further develop their existing capabilities and capitalize on the opportunities offered by the growing market for containerized energy solutions. The investment therefore represents a strategic partnership from which both companies stand to benefit.
The employees of LC Systems will also become more closely connected with 2G going forward. The two companies are deliberately building on the combination of long-standing experience, regional proximity and shared growth prospects.
By acquiring a 50 percent stake in LC Systems, 2G Energy AG is laying another foundation for sustainable growth, a high level of supply security and the continued expansion of its technological and industrial capabilities.
The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
