New Holland

The M Series telehandlers from New Holland Construction — the M427, M428 (pictured) and the M459 — meet a variety of lift-and-place and lift-and-carry requirements and are sized to work in a variety of applications including commercial and residential construction, agriculture and landscaping. The M428 has an operating weight of 24,118 pounds, a maximum lift height of 42 feet, and a lift capacity of 5,000 pounds. The M427 and M428 have a forward reach of 29 feet and the M459 has a forward reach of 31 feet.

Bobcat introduces the V638 VersaHandler telescopic tool carrier, which is designed as a pick-and-place machine and is suited for construction and rental customers who need increased lift height and reach. The 6,700-pound maximum load capacity V638 features a three-stage boom with a maximum lift height of 38 feet, 11 inches. Other features on the V638 include a full belly pan for machine component protection, easy-to-use controls, and a side-mounted engine. Operation is made easy with a single, loader-style joystick that controls lift and tilt functions, while variable-control thumbwheels on the joystick activate boom extension and auxiliary hydraulic functions.

Manitou offers the MT 6034 telescopic handler with 34 feet, 3 inches of lift height and a rated operating capacity of 6,000 pounds. The model features a welded box-section design boom and a 99-hp John Deere turbocharged diesel engine. Other design features include a rugged frame with reinforced C-channels, internal wet disc brakes for longer life and better stopping capability, and a negative (spring-applied, hydraulically released) parking brake system. The negative parking brake applies automatically when the engine is shut off, or manually by pressing a rocker switch.

Caterpillar introduces the TL642 telehandler, which is the smallest in the TL Series. The TL642 has a 6,500-pound lift capacity and a 42-foot maximum lift height. It comes equipped with a Cat 3054C Tier 2 engine and a powershift transmission that offers four speeds forward and three reverse for optimum travel speed in either direction. An efficient hydraulic pump delivers full hydraulic power even at low engine speeds for precise load placement and reduced fuel consumption. A full flow-sharing hydraulic valve provides the operator the use of three boom functions simultaneously to speed load handling.

McLaren Industries' Dig-&-Grab heavy-duty digging bucket with grapple attachment is designed for use with skid-steer and track loaders. The Dig-&-Grab combines the loading and leveling functions of a standard bucket with the grabbing abilities of a grapple. The unit caters to a variety of applications, from transporting brush, wood chips and straw, to hauling larger, more demanding loads such as logs, rocks and demolition debris. The Dig-&-Grab buckets are available in 66-, 72- and 78-inches wide. Constructed of strong, rust-resistant manganese and chromium steel alloy, all buckets are 20 inches deep and feature a thick, 6-inch-deep leading edge.

Genie introduces the GTH-5519 telehandler, which is designed for applications requiring the versatility to lift, move and place various types of materials and loads. The telehandler comes standard with 4-wheel drive and three power-assisted steering modes including 2-wheel, 4-wheel coordinated and 4-wheel crab. The GTH-5519 features a maximum lift capacity of 5,500 pounds, a maximum lift height of 18 feet, 10 inches, and a maximum reach of 11 feet, 3 inches.

John Deere

The John Deere 950J and 1050J (pictured) waste handler crawlers offer a full-featured hydrostatic drive train, an improved cooling system and extensive guarding. The 1050J dozer has a rated 335-hp with an operating weight of 81,000 pounds. The 1050J U-blade with trash rack is 25.8 cubic yards and the semi-U with trash rack is 32.8 cubic yards. The track pads range from 22- to 28-inches wide and are available with trapezoidal holes. The high ground clearance and smooth bottom guards keep the dozer riding over the trash without dragging and pushing it.

The Whiteman WBH-16 Series concrete and material handling power buggies from Multiquip are 16-cubic-foot capacity units and are designed for landscape applications, material sub-base distribution, jobsite cleanup, concrete spreading, spot pouring and material transport. The WBH-16 Series is powered by 13-hp Honda engines and comes with recoil and electric recoil start. The WBH-16EAWD all-wheel drive model is powered by an 18-hp Vanguard engine. The units feature a heavy-duty frame with a low center of gravity for increased stability and traction, a 5.5-gallon fuel tank, and a 6-inch dump height. All buggies can transport up to 2,500 pounds on dual wheels, 1,000 pounds on single wheels and also meet the ASME standard.

Blue Giant adds new models of pallet trucks, lift stackers and push stackers to provide a full lineup of walk-behind material-handling solutions. The XPL Series of self-propelled straddle-lift stackers feature hydraulic lift capacities of 3,000 to 3,500 pounds. The VR-530C, a telescopic tool material carrier from Ingersoll Rand combines the versatility of a tool carrier with the reach and capacity of a lift-and-place machine. The VR-530C comes standard with a four-cylinder, 100-hp Perkins Tier 2 engine and hydrostatic transmission. Working speeds, forward and reverse, range from 0 to 4.6 mph with available inching. Travel speeds range from 0 to 15.4 mph. Angling 62 degrees up, the boom extends to a maximum lift height of 30 feet and maximum forward reach of 21 feet.

JLG Mobile Stock Pickers are available with widths ranging from 31.5 inches to 33 inches, and lengths ranging from 60 inches to 74 inches. They are designed to fit easily into most freight elevators and narrow passageways. The MSP Series features three models with platform heights of 10, 15 and 20 feet, and platform capacities ranging from 350 to 500 pounds, and total carrying capacity up to 850 pounds. Stowed heights range from 56 inches to 78 inches.

Volvo Construction Equipment introduces the VR-843C telescopic material handler, which offers operators ergonomic functionality, increased power and improved boom control. A turbocharged 110-hp, Tier 2 Cummins engine provides power, and the machine has a 43-foot, 1-inch lift height. The VR-843C also features a forward reach of 28 feet, 2 inches and a reach below grade of 2 feet, 8 inches. Volvo hydraulics provide improved control of the load to the operator throughout the boom lifting range, resulting in accelerated telescopic action, which puts the load into position faster. Built-in cushioning at the end of the lifting sequence allows the load to be placed and transported with increased smoothness.
