Vermeer Mfg. Co. introduces the CX224 compact excavator, one of seven in a new line including the CX216, CX218, CX219z, CX229, CX234 and CX254.

Weighing in at 5,400 pounds and measuring 4.8 feet wide, the machine features 14.5 feet of reach, a digging depth of 8.3 feet, bucket breakout force of 4,410 pounds and a 25-hp diesel engine. The maximum digging height is 14.3 feet with a maximum dumping height of 9.8 feet.

Combined with an independent swing boom, the machine fits into close confines comfortably and works with ease around walls, footing and other obstacles. For expanded versatility, the boom swing angles to the left up to 55 degrees and to the right up to 80 degrees.

“Vermeer continues to expand their product offering as a total solutions provider building on the relationships with customers across North America,” says Mark Cooper, product manager. “The addition of the compact excavators enhances Vermeer's ability to provide equipment to the underground construcion market.”

Standard operating equipment includes an 18-inch bucket, dozer blade, two-speed travel, rubber tracks and hydraulic pilot controls. The excavator is equipped with a standard canopy with a heated cab available as optional equipment. A 12-inch bucket is also available.
