VERNON HILLS, Ill. — Komatsu America Corp. held the grand opening of its Newberry Manufacturing Operation in Newberry, S.C., May 29. The $20 million facility is the new home for production of four Komatsu backhoe loaders.
Located 35 miles northwest of Columbia, S.C., the NMO facility is set on 80 acres. The 200,000-square-foot facility is the fifth major manufacturing plant Komatsu has established in North America.
Other KAC plants in North America include two Chattanooga, Tenn., facilities that produce excavators, mid-size wheel loaders and motor graders; a Peoria, Ill., facility where off-highway trucks and large wheel loaders are built; and the Candiac, Quebec, facility that produces small to mid-size wheel loaders. The company also has facilities in Lexington, Ky., Ripley, Tenn., and in Cartersville, Ga.
