SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Atlas Copco completed its acquisition of Rental Service Corp. the last week in July, officially ending a wild, sometimes turbulent, eight months for North America's No. 3 rental company.
RSC was poised to merge with NationsRent earlier this year before United Rentals stepped in with a hostile offer. Swedish equipment manufacturer Atlas Copco, which also owns Prime Service, No. 4 on the RER 100, then outbid United by offering $1.63 billion in cash and assumed debt for the Scottsdale, Ariz.-based company.
Atlas Copco now controls more than 400 rental outlets that generate close to $800 million in equipment rental revenue.
