Miller Electric Mfg. Co. offers its Big 40 engine-driven welding generator equipped with a Caterpillar 3024 diesel engine. The engine features automatic idle, taking the engine speed down from 1,800 rpm to an idle speed of 1,250 rpm when the operator is not welding. It delivers 20 percent more power at its rated output than the previous Big 40: 400 amps, 40 volts at 60 percent duty cycle. The engine can run carbons up to 5/16 of an inch, stick electrodes up to 1/4 of an inch and wire from .023 to 1/8 of an inch.
