Briggs Equipment Wins International Technology Award

Dallas-based Briggs Equipment, a distributor and supplier of forklift trucks, industrial equipment and construction equipment, recently received a technology and innovation award from the United Kingdom Warehousing Association for its highly acclaimed BE Fleet ‘Speedshield’ asset management tool.

Speedshield, introduced in the United States in 2008, is new to the U.K. and promotes optimum safety and efficiency while giving customers complete control over their fleet. Exclusive to Briggs Equipment, BE Fleet’s Speedshield directly impacts bottom-line costs with real time reporting on speed, truck efficiency, damage and misuse. Along with integration into the BE Fleet Web-based service management tool, customers experience dramatic cost reductions.

“Briggs is committed to driving innovation and enhancing our BE Fleet platform with an extensive suite of features that enables our customers to improve fleet operations and optimize margins,” said Steve Jennings, director of BE Fleet. “Our industry-leading products and recognition via this award reinforce Briggs Equipment as a global fleet management leader.”

In drawing up the list of nominations, UKWA judges looked for evidence of bold and innovative responses to the changing market place. The judges also looked for products that would have an effect on increasing efficiency in warehousing operations.

With its origins dating back to 1896 as a division of Briggs Weaver and owned by Sammons since 1952, Briggs Equipment became a separate Sammons company in 1996 and has grown into one of the largest global equipment distributors. The Briggs Equipment brand includes: Briggs Equipment, No. 22 on the RER 100, with branches throughout the southwestern portion of the United States; Briggs Equipment de Mexico, which operates throughout Mexico; and Briggs Equipment UK Limited servicing the United Kingdom.
