Jacques Bataille, founder of the Tramac group of companies, died recently at the age of 81.

Bataille, born in Le Plessis, Belleville, France, worked for Poclain, an agricultural equipment manufacturer founded by his father Georges Bataille. As general sales manager, he helped Poclain become a world player in hydraulic excavators with sales offices around the world. Jacques Bataille resigned from Poclain in 1966 and founded Tramac, which introduced the first fully hydraulic breakers into the North American market. Bataille served as chairman of MTPS, the French association of construction equipment manufacturers.

Bataille is survived by his wife Jehanne, seven children, 22 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
