The California Rental Association last week decided to revise its annual convention schedule and hold “rental rallies” every other year, despite the relative success of its most recent show in San Diego last October.

“After reviewing all the conventions being held in the west this year, it seemed prudent to not compete with them,” said CRA president Dale Blackwell. “As we discussed the 2005 schedule, it also seemed apparent that an every other year schedule fit our future association plans.”

However, Blackwell and CRA executive director Chuck Maltese added that CRA would hold some kind of industry event in 2005, the nature of which CRA will announce in the coming months.

“Our association members are very important to CRA and assisting them to be profitable is one of our goals,” Maltese said. “We will not abandon them in the off years when there is no show scheduled.” Maltese added that the CRA’s new approach, still being planned, is “the way of the future.”

CRA is encouraging rental people in the west to attend the Northwest Rental Conference October 16-18 in Portland, Ore.
