The RER 100 totaled rental revenue of $28,813.7 million in rental revenue in 2021, according to a new report published by Rental Equipment Register [www.rermag.com]. The total of this year’s RER 100 is an all-time record high for the chart, published by the editors of RER since 1983. The rental volume total, which includes estimates as well as reported numbers, is up 12.5 percent compared to last year’s pandemic-influenced total of $25,603.3 billion.
The previous high was the 2020 chart covering 2019 rental volume, which totaled $28,084.1 million.
The top 10 of the RER 100 set a new record with $21,505.7 million, tops in its history and a 13.1 percent increase compared to last year. It topped the previous record, 2019, by $949.8 million, or 4.6 percent. This year the top 10 was 74.6 percent of the total listing; last year it was 74.3 percent; in 2019 it was 73.2 percent.
Stamford, Conn.-based United Rentals continues as No. 1, followed by Sunbelt Rentals at No. 2; Herc Rentals No. 3; Home Depot Rentals, No. 4; and BrandSafway rounded out the top five. Six through 10 are Maxim Crane Works; H&E Equipment Services; Ahern Rentals; Sunstate Equipment Co.; and Aggreko North America.
