Bigge Crane & Rigging has set up a division to rent strand jacks and electronicalIy controlled hydraulic lifting gantries. The company, based in San Leandro, Calif., is a major dealer of new and used cranes, an authorized distributor for Liebherr crawler cranes, and says it is the largest Terex Cranes distributor in North America.

Bigge is now the authorized Hydrospex distributor for the western hemisphere. “We teamed up with Hydrospex because, having experience of every brand of equipment on the market, Hydrospex’s hydraulic telescoping gantries and strand jacks were far in advance of anything else available,” said Bigge CEO Weston Settlemier.

Bigge’s new division will rent strand jacks with capacities ranging from 70- ton to 580-ton capacity and hydraulic lifting gantries with lifting capacities up to 1,100 tons and lifting heights up to 41 feet. Bigge hired Eddy Kitchen as sales manager for Hydrospex gantries, strand jacks and skidding equipment.

Hydrospex strand jacks were recently used by Bigge to lift deck sections on the new San Francisco Bay Bridge and by contractors on the new Tacoma Narrows Bridge in Washington.
