Volvo Construction Equipment introduces the C-Series generation of its EW range of wheeled excavators. The EW160C and EW180C (pictured) feature improvements that can be found in almost every element of the machine: engine, cab, hydraulics, substructure, boom/arm, controls, servicing and environmental impact. However, most of the changes are related to the engine and operator environment.

“The release of the EW160C and EW180C machines are unique for the rental market for a variety of reasons,” says Tony den Hoed, marketing communications and product launch specialist of excavators for Volvo. “The engine is validated for reliability and power, and the cab features operator comfort, control, versatility and safety.”

The C-Series offers powerful Volvo Tier 3-compliant engines with advanced combustion technology, which is designed to deliver fuel efficiency. Producing high torque at low rpm, this engine allows fast hydraulic response and efficient fuel consumption. The engine management's anti-stall system balances maximum available power and hydraulic output, preventing the engine from becoming overloaded, regardless of engine speed or pump demand.

The upgraded and roomier operator's cab allows for more room where needed, especially around the feet. The C-Series also features more comfort, higher volume climate control, better visibility and easy to use controls. Visibility has been improved and a transparent, opening roof hatch has been added. The air-suspension seat and the steering column and controls are fully adjustable.
