Bill Gates Increases His Stake in Deere to More than 10%

With the purchase of 87,000 shares of John Deere late last month, tech billionaire Bill Gates, already Deere’s largest shareholder, passed the 10-percent ownership threshold, requiring him to file a form with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

With the purchase of 87,000 shares of John Deere late last month, tech billionaire Bill Gates, already Deere’s largest shareholder, passed the 10-percent ownership threshold, requiring him to file a form with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Gates made the purchase through his investing company Cascade Investment LLC, which now owns more than 31.5 million shares, www.barrons.com reported. 

Deere’s stock was trading at $164.32 per share at 1:22 p.m. EST Sept. 20.
