Motion Introduces Tape Caddy to Simplify Floor Marking Maintenance

Patent-pending portable cart combines tape removal, surface preparation and storage tools to improve efficiency in warehouses and distribution centers

Motion has introduced the Motion Tape Caddy, a patent-pending portable cart designed to simplify floor marking maintenance in warehouses, distribution centers and other material handling environments.

Because floor marking tape requires regular replacement due to wear and changing traffic patterns, the Tape Caddy is designed to streamline tape removal, surface preparation and new tape installation, according to a company press release.

“Frequent changes in traffic control and walkway paths require removal of old tape and placement of new,” said Scott Smith, division sales manager for Motion Repair and Services. “We designed a solution to efficiently service the customer’s floor and safety taping at their distribution centers.”

According to Motion, the product was developed after the company identified a customer’s need for a more efficient way to manage frequent floor layout changes in a large distribution center.

“This resourceful team saw an opportunity to improve facility workflow and combined their expertise to design the Tape Caddy,” said Ed Van Hell, vice president of Motion Repair & Services. “I’m proud of their dedication to anticipating customer needs and providing a highly practical solution. We look forward to seeing it drive efficiency in even more facilities.”

The Motion Tape Caddy features:

  • A powered wire brush system designed to remove paint stripping
  • An ultra-hot steam vapor up to 190 degrees at 90 psi
  • Up to 1.25 hours of continuous, dry stream before recharging
  • A portable design with a parking brake
  • A QEP floor scraper with a telescoping handle, foam grip and safe blade-change system
  • A 45-inch retractable power cord for convenient recharging
  • Built-in storage for spare blades, steam wand attachments, and change-out tools
  • A standing dustpan and broom
  • Storage for multiple rolls of floor marking tape in various colors, patterns and styles

“The basic unit’s unique properties are really its key features: Self-contained with an onboard power source; scraper tool blade change holder for same removal and install of blades, and onboard steam supply,” Smith said. “And the cart can be customized for a facility’s specific requirements and environment.”

Designed as an all-in-one floor marking solution, the tape caddy helps crews remove old tape and paint, prepare surfaces and organize the tools and materials needed to install new floor marking, reducing the time and labor associated with facility layout changes.
