Solid Body Demolition Breakers Boast Increased Blow Frequency
Atlas Copco introduces the mid-range model of breakers for excavators up to 9 tons. The SB 302 boasts a 48-percent increase in blow frequency compared with the previous model (1,380 bpm up from 930 bpm) without any reduction in single-blow energy. This breaker is also 5 dBA quieter than the previous model. Vibrations in this new model have been reduced by up to 53 percent to ease wear and tear on the carrier and lower operator fatigue.
“The SB 302 has a solid body, meaning there are no bolts or sideplates needed to hold the breaker together,” says Jeff Malarik, product manager of hydraulic attachments for Atlas Copco Construction Tools. “The breaker has dual retainer bars for more tool support. It also features a larger working tool diameter to prevent against bending failures, allowing it to last longer.”
The slim design of the SB 302 makes positioning easy, according to the company. The compact dimensions also facilitate working in confined applications such as indoor demolition work, along house walls and in narrow trenching. The unit offers high performance and breaking power because of a new hydraulic system that delivers higher efficiency and improved energy recovery.
