Volvo Construction Equipment

Redesigned backhoe loaders from Volvo CE combine two machines in one unit — a wheel loader and excavator. With an average operating weight that ranges from 17,500 to 19,500 pounds, and gross power of 83 to 98 hp, the BL60B and BL70B were designed and built with power, strength, long life and efficiency in mind. The one-piece chassis, loader arm and excavator boom are all made from high-quality steel and robotically welded, giving constant weld runs for structural integrity. Both models feature the latest D5D four-cylinder 4.8-liter Volvo engines with direct injection and turbo charging. The redesigned cab offers 15-percent more space than before.

Bradco

The Bradco 485 backhoe by Paladin Construction Group is engineered to increase utilization of skid-steer loaders and tractors. At 925 pounds without a bucket, its compact size allows operators to easily move the unit around the jobsite. It provides a maximum digging depth of 8 feet, 5 inches. The full 180-degree dual-cylinder swing rotation provides equal power in both directions. A 10-foot, 7-inch horizontal reach from the swing post is designed to efficiently place dirt away from the digging area and minimize the need to move the machine. The 485 backhoe is compatible with bucket sizes from 10 to 24 inches and heaped capacities that range from .92 cubic feet up to 3.1 cubic feet.

General Equipment

General Equipment Co.'s DIG-R-TACH line allows for use with both small and large hydraulic systems. Suited for use with skid-steer loaders, mini-excavators and small backhoes, the 671 DIG-R-TACH Series 16 earth-drilling attachment is intended for smaller hydraulic systems, whereas the Series 24 is designed for larger systems. Featuring a two-speed chain/sprocket drive and a 5- to 20-gpm hydraulic flow range, the Series 16 balances smaller flow volumes in proportion to auger diameters for a cleaner hole with less loose soil and debris. For higher capacity drilling, the Series 24 operates in a 15- to 25-gpm hydraulic flow range and delivers drilling torque up to 2,018 foot-pounds.

Case Construction Equipment

The new Case 580N, 580 Super N, 580 Super N Wide Track and 590 Super N loader/backhoes deliver dramatic increases in backhoe breakout force and lift, along with increased loader breakout force, lift and reach, over previous models. Case-exclusive Power Lift channels hydraulic power directly to the backhoe boom with the touch of a button, resulting in improved lifting capabilities while running at low engine rpms. The Case N Series machines also deliver more power to the loader for increased breakout and lift capabilities. The new loader arms are stronger and longer, providing greater loader reach for faster truck-loading and increased payloads.

Terex Construction

The new TLB840 backhoe loader has a 79-hp Perkins engine and is powered by an optional 4-speed servo power syncro transmission with automatic shifting, delivering fuel efficiency and high tractive effort. The new TLB840 has a curved boom design that offers operators greater clearance to reach over obstacles and the ability to load closer into trucks for greater productivity. With a dig depth of 14 feet, 9 inches, and a reach up to 18 feet, 9 inches, the TLB840 is designed with a new slew system that provides high torque for easier backfilling and slewing uphill. With a loading height of 11 feet, 3 inches, it can load high-sided trucks, and with 10,485 foot-pounds of bucket breakout force, a loader lift capacity of 7,921 foot-pounds, and bucket capacity of 1.32 cubic yards, the TLB840 is designed for high-capacity production.

John Deere

The TMC 410J backhoe features John Deere's Total Machine Control, which provides more intuitive controls and enables automation of functions that operators previously had to do manually. Armrest-mounted joystick controls turn with the seat and eliminate pilot towers, resulting in enhanced visibility, improved comfort and reduced heat in the cab thanks to the absence of hydraulic oil used in other control systems. TMC units also feature three speed modes: craning, normal and a high-production mode that can improve cycle times up to 20 percent. The 410J has an operating weight of 15,080 pounds, a backhoe digging depth of 16 feet, 1 inch, and a loader lift capacity of 7,340 pounds.
