Stellar Industries Introduces New Bumper Design for NXT Series Hooklifts
Key Highlights
- Stellar’s NXT Series Hooklift bumper is available in bolt-on and welded configurations.
- The 20K model is designed for Class 3–6 chassis, while the 90K model is built for Class 7–8 chassis.
- Stellar worked with Iowa State University’s CIRAS to test the bumper under load, fatigue and failure conditions.
Stellar Industries is rolling out a new standard bumper design for its NXT Series Hooklifts, with bolt-on and welded configurations now available for new orders.
The company said the redesigned bumper is built to make installation easier while giving operators more options for adding equipment such as cameras, hitches and gladhands.
The bumper is offered in two capacities based on the truck and application. The 20K version is designed for Class 3 through 6 chassis and has a 20,000-pound pull capacity. The 90K version is built for Class 7 and 8 chassis and has a 90,000-pound pull capacity.
Tested for Real-World Loads
Stellar spent two years developing and testing the new design, using structural testing to establish hitch load ratings.
The company worked with Iowa State University’s Center for Industrial Research and Service to test several bumper configurations under rated load, fatigue and failure conditions. The testing was designed to verify how the bumpers perform under demanding conditions before they reach customers.
“We’ve introduced, tested and enhanced the hooklift bumper into something that customers can rely on,” said Tim Worman, director of product management at Stellar. “We are thrilled that we had the opportunity to work with CIRAS on this project and can’t wait for customers to experience the difference.”
Built for More Flexibility
The new bumper is intended to give NXT Series Hooklift customers more flexibility when configuring their trucks. The bolt-on and welded versions can accommodate different equipment needs while maintaining the structural performance established through testing.
Both versions are now available to order with new NXT Series Hooklifts.
