Snorkel is celebrating the production of its 10,000th Snorkel S3219E electric slab scissor lift at its assembly facility in Elwood, Kan.
The Snorkel S3219E was introduced in February 2015 as the first model in a completely redesigned family of electric slab scissor lifts for the company. Designed and engineered in Elwood, Kan., the company last week completed the 10,000th unit as it left the assembly line and passed its final quality checks.
The occasion was celebrated with a facility-wide luncheon for all employees. The event was also attended by company executives, pictured above, from left: Matthew Elvin, CEO; Don Ahern, owner; Elwood facility president David Smith; and senior vice president of sales for North America, Robby Hagan. Also in attendance were representatives from local vendors who supply components for the Snorkel S3219E.
Speaking from the event, Don Ahern said, “This is a proud moment for Snorkel, and particularly the Elwood facility who have historically been known for the production of boom lifts. When we redesigned the electric slab scissor range back in 2014, we really focused on making them rental tough, so to be producing the 10,000th unit here today is testament that these products are fulfilling the needs of our customers.”
The Snorkel S3219E is a 19 foot (5.79m) electric slab scissor lift which measures 32 inches (0.81m) wide. While Snorkel is highlighting the production of the 10,000th unit from its Elwood facility, the company has produced almost 16,000 units worldwide to date. A globally popular product, Snorkel manufactures the S3219E in four of its manufacturing facilities around the world.
During his speech at the luncheon, David Smith, president of Snorkel’s Elwood facility, said, “I would like to congratulate our team here at Elwood facility on reaching this impressive milestone. I would also like to thank our vendors for their continued support. This is a great accomplishment which is truly a team effort.”
The completed 10,000th unit was displayed at the luncheon in a custom decal livery, and will be transferred to Henderson, Nev., in the coming weeks to be displayed at the company’s showroom at its global corporate headquarters.
