Loxam Denmark has invested in eight Snorkel lithium compact rough terrain scissors from Ahern Denmark.

The order included four Snorkel S3370RTE and four Snorkel S3970RTE, which were manufactured by Snorkel in the U.K., and feature Loxam’s distinctive red and grey livery in a long-lasting dual-coat powder paint finish.

The scissor lifts were delivered to Ahern Denmark in early September, with the first two machines being taken to a Loxam Denmark sales meeting where they were presented to branch managers and sales personnel as a product introduction. The remaining six units have been delivered to Loxam branches across Denmark.

The Snorkel S3370RTE is capable of lifting up to 1,000 pounds (454kg) to a working height of up to 39 feet (12m), while the taller S3970RTE can reach up to 45 feet (13.8m), with a platform capacity of 771 pounds (350kg). Both models feature high grip, non-marking tires for indoor/outdoor use, and have powerful four-wheel drive capabilities with 35-percent gradeability and an oscillating axle. Four auto-leveling stabilizers come as standard, which benefit from Snorkel’s inverted leg design that protects the cylinder rod from damage and debris and can level up to 6 degrees front-to-rear, and 10 degrees side-to-side.

Completely zero emissions, the S3370RTE and S3970RTE both come with two 111Ah (5.75kWh) maintenance-free battery packs with built-in battery management systems (BMS) as standard. In both test conditions and real-life applications, the standard two battery pack system has been proven to deliver at least an eight-hour shift on a single charge, and in some cases, up to one week between charges, subject to usage.

Designed for outdoor applications, an AC electric motor creates efficiencies in the hydraulic-drive system with higher torque than a diesel engine, the company said, which in turn provides improved gradeability and enhanced performance on rough terrain than traditional combustion scissor lifts. The electric motor also delivers up to 62-percent less jobsite noise than the diesel equivalent, enabling the lifts to be used indoors or in work environments with noise regulations, and with no engine fan, dust generation is reduced for safer and cleaner operation in low emission zones and green cities.

With minimal battery and electrical system maintenance required, servicing costs are reduced by up to 93 percent when compared to an engine, while also eliminating the costs and risks of waste oil and filter disposal.

On the recent investment in Snorkel’s lithium technology, Loxam Denmark’s technical director, Frank Larsen said, “Development in zero emissions and noise reduction make it essential to look at lithium-ion technology in high-reach equipment. Loxam Denmark is looking forward to sending these machines into the Danish rental market.”

“We are delighted that Loxam Denmark made the decision to invest in Snorkel’s lithium-electric compact rough terrain scissor lifts, and we are confident that they will be very positively received by the rental branches and their customers,” said Henrik Skibsted, general manager of Ahern Denmark. “I would like to thank Frank and team for their trust in Ahern Denmark and Snorkel with this order and we look forward to working with them in future.”
