MEC Aerial Work Platforms announces that patent awards have now been granted for the United States (Patent No. 11,112,060), Europe (Patent No. 3,437,962) and Canada (Patent No. 3,021,925), all of which embody MEC’s Leak Containment System (LCS).
With those patents, the LCS is now officially recognized in North America and across Europe as a highly innovative solution to the challenge of protecting sensitive floor applications from potential hydraulic leaks without interfering with safety-related features of the machinery.
Using a system of trays integrated within the machine, LCS is an oil containment system for MEC slab scissor lifts and vertical mast lifts. Unlike prior attempts at resolving the longstanding problem of oil leakage capture, the leak-retention mechanism of LCS does not interfere with other basic functionalities of the device – including deployment of the machine’s pothole protection system, front wheel operations, access to the emergency stop and ground controls, or operation of the static strap.
The integrated trays are protected from weather elements, jobsite debris and forklift damage. As with all of MEC’s equipment, its multiple-patented Leak Containment System keeps safety as a priority.
“This hat-trick of patent awards in the United States, Europe, and Canada formally acknowledges MEC’s industry-changing innovation,” said Gary Crook, vice president engineering. “We have heard from customers around the world and appreciate that they won’t settle for any of the lesser options which have started to enter the marketplace.”
Since the launch of LCS in 2019, MEC customers have quickly come to realize the value and advantages of this feature. Through its design, strategically placed inspection ports, and well placed pre-cut absorbent pads, MEC’s LCS has delivered leak detection and containment, which provides greater jobsite efficiency and therefore greater value for MEC’s rental company customers and their end users.
