Supporting the needs of customers in The Middle East, Terex AWP marked the opening of its first distribution center in the region dedicated to its Genie-branded aerial access equipment. Located in the Jebel Ali Free Zone in Dubai, on the premises of third-party logistics providers Wallenius Wilhelmsen Solutions, the new distribution facility will hold a broad selection of Genie boomlifts and scissorlifts to be able to provide quick response to customers’ critical business requirements.

“The market is evolving, and our customers have been finding that they are increasingly challenged by orders for projects that demand delivery at short notice,” said Sharbel Kordahi, managing director, Terex Equipment Middle East and Genie sales director for Middle East, South Africa, Russia and CIS, Terex AWP. “Addressing the need to ensure fast deliveries to better support our customers’ urgent requests, this new facility will help respond more quickly, getting them the equipment they need when they need it. Customers can also rest assured that this will not change their existing order process.”

Like any other Terex AWP facility around the world, this new Genie distribution center will also handle pre-delivery inspections and the fitting of certain options. “This distribution center is geared to the specific needs of customers in the Middle East, and as such, the main focus will be on considerably speeding up the delivery of critical and one-shot orders,” said Kordahi. “At the same time, our distributors will continue to maintain their own stocks of Genie equipment on their own premises to ensure the best response possible to all customers throughout the region.

“We chose WWS as our logistics and solutions provider for this new distribution center because they proved particularly well-suited to our specific requirements. In addition to their extensive experience in the industry, as well as the space required to stock a sufficiently large number of Genie units, they are also ideally located for inbound and outbound freight to the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman and other countries in the region. We are confident that can we count on WWS to help deliver the results that our customers’ business success relies on.”
