AMSTERDAM, Netherlands — The first International Rental Exhibition will be held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, in June 2008. The new show, organized in cooperation with the European Rental Association, will be held at the RAI exhibition center in Amsterdam June 3-5, 2008.

In addition, ERA's annual conference will be held alongside the main exhibition in a purpose-built conference hall June 4-5.

The exhibition will be open to all rental industry suppliers, including equipment manufacturers — both global and local companies — and suppliers of specialist services to the rental sector such as software and asset-tracking technology. ERA also hopes the show will provide suppliers with an opportunity to present equipment and products tailored for rental.

The International Rental Exhibition has the official support of International Rental News, an international rental magazine, and the magazine's publisher, KHL Group. Through IRN, KHL's 10 market-leading construction magazines, other selected titles, and a worldwide promotion campaign, show organizer Industrial Promotions International will be looking to attract a high quality and quantity of visitors and delegates to this inaugural event.

The event coincides with rapid growth in the European and international rental sector. European rental volumes currently stand at up to €22 billion a year [about U.S. $30 billion] and the market grew by an estimated 8 percent last year and is expected to continue to see high growth rates for several years. Growth is fueled both by high European investment in building and construction as well as a gradual switch from ownership of equipment to rental.

The IRE event will also provide a focus for the huge potential of developing rental markets in Eastern Europe and the rest of the world, and will be an international meeting place for rental's top people and companies. The rental market in North America is already worth close to $35 billion annually, but there is enormous potential for rental in the major markets of Russia, eastern and central Europe, India, China, Asia Pacific and the rest of the world.

“The time is right for a new rental event in Europe, and the ERA is putting its full support behind the International Rental Exhibition in Amsterdam,” said Gérard Deprez, chairman of the European Rental Association and CEO of Loxam, Europe's largest rental company. “We will be looking to bring together the whole rental industry under one roof. This is a great opportunity for the European, regional and international rental industry.”
