The Bobcat backhoe attachment allows operators to turn a Bobcat loader into a powerful excavator designed for digging capability. With a full line of backhoe models for all sizes of Bobcat loaders, the backhoe is a part-time attachment that can handle full-time excavating jobs. It is designed to operate with minimal ground disturbance. Operators can also use the same buckets available for excavators. From the operator’s seat, users have a clear line of sight into the hole, making it easy to dig accurately. Once digging job is complete, operators can change to another loader attachment to finish the job using the Bob-Tach mounting system.
Case N Series backhoe loaders now feature an all-new Pilot Control hydraulic system offering the operator more control in critical applications. The fuel economy package, previously optional, is now standard. This includes ECO mode switches for both the loader and backhoe functions, which allows for greater fuel savings. The package also includes the Auto Engine Idle feature, which brings engine RPMs down to idle when the backhoe controls are not used for a set period of time. The engine will shut down if the machine idles for a set period of time. Both Auto Engine Idle and Auto Engine Shutdown have adjustable settings to customize the timing to the operators’ style and preference. Another feature now standard is the Engine Protection Shutdown mode, which turns the engine off if engine temperature, drivetrain fluid temperature or engine oil pressure go out of normal operating range.
As a new standard feature on the 310SL HL, 410L (pictured) and 710L backhoes, precision mode allows reduced-speed hydraulic functions while operating the backhoe end of the machine with the push of a button on the Sealed Switch Module. The mode allows accurate, detailed work to be performed in tight areas, around utilities or while craning, and it helps new operators become comfortable. The improved pilot controller increases the metering range by 16 percent, designed to enhance operator feel at the control helm. A redesigned hydraulic thumb option reduces trench interference and improves contact points against the bucket cutting edge when handling or loading irregular shaped objects, debris or rocks.
New Holland C Series tractor loader backhoes with Tier 4 Final certified engines feature a choice of PowerShuttle or Powershift transmission. PowerShuttle is designed for easy operation, with a right-hand gear shift lever and a FNR shuttle lever. The Powershift transmission shifts smoothly up or down through the gears automatically locating the correct gear for the current conditions. Using a straight arm loader design, C series Loader backhoes deliver lift capacities of 11.5 feet to 11,118 pounds and bucket breakout force of 12,004 lb.-ft. Outboard wet disc brakes with a separate Spring Applied Hydraulically Released (SAHR) parking brake provide enhanced control and significantly increased brake life, according to the OEM. The “low effort” braking system allows the operator to apply stopping power with a minimum amount of force.
