Peoria, Ill.-based Caterpillar and Pape Bros., Eugene, Ore., last week signed an agreement in principle that will transfer ownership of the assets from Pape and its affiliates to Caterpillar Inc.

Pape Bros. will continue to serve as the Caterpillar dealer for southern Oregon until the transaction is finalized.

In conjunction with the agreement in principle, Caterpillar announced intentions to sell Pape assets and grant territory rights to an existing Caterpillar dealer to be named later.

Pape Bros. provides sales, parts, service and support for Caterpillar equipment for the forestry, construction, mining, wood-products, transportation and power generation industries in Southern Oregon and Northern California. The company has six store locations in Eugene, Albany/Tangent, Coos Bay, Klamath Falls, Medford and Redmond, Ore.
