Ramirent’s Danish subsidiary Ramirent A/S this week signed an agreement to acquire the business assets of Jydsk Material Udlejning, a rental company based in West Jutland, Denmark. Jydsk brings in about €1.5 million in annual sales (about U.S. $2 million).

Founded in 1940, JMU specializes in the renting of lifts, modules and light machinery and its customers include local craftsmen, medium-sized contractors, industrial clientele and homeowners. JMU has outlets in Herning and Holstebro, Denmark, and employs about eight people including owner Peter Korsholm Jeppesen, who will remain with the company.

“We are happy to welcome a new member into the Ramirent Group with long traditions in the rental business,” said Erik Høi, senior vice president of Ramirent Denmark. “The acquisition strengthens our position in the fragmented Danish market and is part of Ramirent’s strategy to offer present and new customers an even greater network and wider assortment.”

Including the acquisition, Ramirent has 22 locations in Denmark and annual revenue of about €43 million in 2009 (about U.S. $60 million.) Based in Helsinki, Finland, Ramirent has branches in 13 Nordic, central and Eastern European countries.
