ALISO VIEJO, Calif. — Fluor Corp. recently sold Atlanta-based equipment dealership Stith Equipment, to Birmingham, Ala.-based Tractor & Equipment Co.

Fluor sold Stith, a division of Greenville, S.C.-based Ameco, as part of its previously announced strategy to divest itself of certain non-core businesses in order to focus on its traditional engineering, procurement, construction and maintenance services business.

Under terms of the sale, Stith will continue to operate as a Komatsu dealership under the new Stith Division/Tractor & Equipment Co. Founded in Atlanta in 1954, Stith is one of the United States' oldest Komatsu dealers, with branches in Macon, Albany, Augusta, Dalton, Savannah, Hoschton and Columbus, Ga. The company was also a dealer for Dressta, Berco, Bomag, Galion, Grove, Elgin, CMI and a number of other equipment lines.

The sale of Stith is the first of the Ameco dealerships Fluor plans to sell under a strategy it announced last year. The company said the divestment would enhance Fluor earnings by focusing on its core competencies and enable Ameco to better focus on the strong growth potential of its site services and fleet outsourcing business units.

Ameco is No. 11 on the RER 100.
