Baldor Electric has purchased Pow'r Gard Generator, an Oshkosh, Wis.-based manufacturer and marketer of generators. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Baldor officials said that by integrating Pow'r Gard generators into their product line, they can better meet customers' increasing demand for energy-efficient secondary and backup power. Fort Smith, Ark.-based Baldor manufactures electric motors and drives at 13 plants in the United States.

"Many of our end-customers are looking for new ideas to reduce their energy needs," said R.S. Boreham Jr., Baldor chairman. "With the addition of generators to the Baldor family, we can now offer customers another energy solution."

Pow'r Gard, which had been privately owned, has annual sales of $25 million. A Pow'r Gard spokesman said the company is not changing its product line because of the sale and is retaining all employees.
