Speedy Hire, the U.K.’s largest provider of equipment rental and support services, was awarded Supplier of the Year and Energy Efficient Project of the Year at this year’s Building and Engineer awards.

Speedy was named Supplier of the Year for its continued innovation in developing equipment and services to support customers’ needs. Speedy was also commended for its partnership-led approach to working with its major customers with its growing operations in the Middle East and North Africa highlights as an example of best practice.

Speedy said its customer service strategy — based on an intimate knowledge of their operations and collaborative working — continues to pay dividends such as this award.

Speedy’s solution to identifying green products — the ‘Go Initiative’ — was the judges’ choice for the most Energy Efficient Project in the construction industry this year. Speedy launched the industry’s first ever green labeling code that provides information on the energy efficiency performance of tools and equipment. Speedy was also praised for its recognition of the responsibility the construction industry has to address its contribution to the U.K.’s carbon emissions.

“The Go initiative allows our customers to make informed decisions about the equipment and tools that they choose to use, and provides them with the option to pick a product that is environmentally friendly. We are constantly looking to move our business forward, breaking new ground in terms of the services we supply and our expansion into the worldwide construction industry.”
