Australia’s largest rental company Coates Hire last week named Leigh Ainsworth CEO. Ainsworth will take over in early November.

Since 2003, Ainsworth has been chief executive of Theiss Services. Theiss is a leading environmental and utilities contractor. During Ainsworth’s tenure, the company’s revenue tripled through organic growth and acquisitions.

“[Ainsworth] brings more than 20 years’ experience in services and utilities contracting to our business and has a wealth of expertise in the management of service contracts,” said Peter Gammell, chairman of Coates Group. “We welcome Leigh’s proven commitment to client relationships and his ability to operate businesses in close alignment with client goals.”

Ainsworth replaces interim CEO Ray Romano, who took over the position when previous CEO Malcolm Jackman left in May.

Coates was acquired last year by National Hire Group, a major Australian rental company, and Carlyle, a private equity group.
