Stockholm, Sweden-based Atlas Copco has established fully owned customer centers in Lahore, Pakistan, and Tanzania.
The new service center in Pakistan, Atlas Copco Pakistan Private Ltd., will grant customers direct access to products and to provide local service to rapidly developing industries in that country. It offers Atlas Copco’s range of tools, compressed air equipment, construction and mining products, as well as related aftermarket activities.
Pakistan is a growing market with many infrastructure projects, such as hydropower plants, tunnels and quarries, the company said. Sales of compressors have experienced rapid growth over the past three years as industry has expanded, and the future looks bright for tools sales, with a major expansion predicted both for car production and general industry.
“By establishing this new customer center in Pakistan we are moving substantially closer to our customers and distributors and making a commitment to further growth in this country,” said Ronnie Leten, business area president, Atlas Copco Compressor Technique.
Atlas Copco has been represented in Pakistan for the past 40 years through distributors. The customer center will employ around 19 people by the end of the year, creating several new jobs. It is operationally part of Compressor Technique although it represents all three of Atlas Copco’s business areas.
Atlas Copco Tanzania Ltd., the new customer center in Tanzania, will focus on mining customers and offers compressors and generators, as well as mining and construction equipment and related aftermarket activities. The new company has 25 employees.
“The growing opportunities in the country show that it is now time to have the right set-up that will support Atlas Copco’s development,” said Björn Rosengren, business area president, Atlas Copco Construction and Mining Technique business area. “With the opening of the new customer center in Tanzania, we are strengthening our presence and reinforcing our commitment to further growth in the region.”
