Aggreko Power Tees Up at the Shell Houston Open

Aggreko recently provided temporary power for the 2005 Shell Houston Open golf tournament’s hospitality tents, concession stands and catering operations. Aggreko also supplied a one-megawatt temporary power and air conditioning package for the week-long PGA Tour event, which attracted 150,000 golf fans.

Aggreko’s service center in Pearland, Texas, provided:

  • 20 portable diesel power generators that produced enough electricity to power a neighborhood of 600 homes
  • More than 19 miles of electrical cables, or the equivalent of about 90 holes of golf at Redstone Golf Club
  • More than 500 20-amp, 110-volt receptacles for the caterers, televisions and tent lights
  • Enough air conditioning to cool 300 homes
Aggreko has a long history of providing critical temporary power and temperature control equipment to some of the world’s biggest golf tournaments such as the U.S. Open, in addition to supporting other major sporting events, including multiple Olympic Games and Super Bowls.

New Iberia, La.-based Aggreko is No. 11 on the RER 100.
