Two men have been charged with theft of heavy construction equipment in the greater Toronto Area, according to press reports. The suspects allegedly represented themselves as employees of reputable home building companies and fraudulently placed orders with heavy construction equipment rental companies, without ever returning the machines.

Police allege the suspects sold the stolen items, valued at about $800,000, for personal profit. The investigation came to a successful conclusion thanks to collaborative police work by police departments in Peel, Durham and Niagara, Ontario.

One of the suspects, Greg Bennett, age 30, of Brampton, Ontario, is still at large and is wanted on outstanding criminal charges.
