A federal jury has ruled that a rental company was not liable for the injuries suffered by a worker in 2004 when he fell out of a bucket on a lift at the University of Mississippi, the Associated Press reported last week.

Two men, both from Kiln, Miss., died during the construction accident and two others were seriously injured. The jury ruled last week that NES Equipment Rentals was not responsible.

According to the lawsuit, Nance was contracted by Mandal’s Roofing Sheet Metal Works to perform work on Scruggs Hall at the university in 2004. Mandal’s, which had a contract to work on the roof, rented a forklift and personnel basket from NES. The men fell 30 to 40 feet when the basket rolled to its side.
