Walker Machinery Co. has completed the sale of its mining equipment business to Louisville, Ky.-based Caterpillar dealer Boyd Co. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Boyd Co. is an affiliate of Whayne Supply Co., Caterpillar dealer in Kentucky since 1913.
Walker Machinery, also a Caterpillar dealership covering western West Virginia and southeastern Ohio, has been run by the Walker family since 1959 and has eight facilities in West Virginia and two in Ohio. The company is based in Belle, W. Va.
The Boyd Co. is owned by Monty Boyd, a former Caterpillar employee, associated with Whayne Supply since 1984. The Boyd Co. purchased the stock of Cecil I. Walker Machinery Co. and its ownership said it will continue to run Walker Machinery “as is.”
Boyd Co. has 13 rental facilities in Kentucky and southern Indiana.
