MacAllister Machinery Co., authorized Caterpillar equipment dealer for central Indiana, plans to construct a new corporate headquarters in Indianapolis, creating up to 70 new jobs by 2018. MacAllister will invest $44.5 million to construct and equip a 300,000-square-foot office complex, more than tripling its current facility. It will house sales, rentals, parts, equipment services and administrative operations, and is expected to be operational by December 2016.

MacAllister Machinery has about 500 employees in the Indianapolis area and nearly 1,000 statewide at 20 Indiana locations. The company plans to begin hiring for diesel mechanics, truck drivers, administrative and clerical positions immediately.

“This new headquarters on Southeastern Avenue will allow us to consolidate five separate locations into one and provide the elbow room to operate more efficiently,” said president and chief operating officer Chris MacAllister. “Our customers, employees and the community will be better served, plus we will have room to continue growing.”

MacAllister Machinery was founded in 1945 and sells a complete line of Caterpillar construction, mining and power generation equipment, and offers equipment from other manufacturers, including Kubota, AGCO, JLG, Miller, Honda, Allmand Bros., Stihl and many more. The company has 20 rental and service locations and also owns Michigan Cat and Titan Equipment in Michigan.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered MacAllister Machinery Co. up to $1 million in conditional tax credits based on the company’s job creation plans, depending on its hiring of Indiana residents.
