Briggs Equipment today announced the opening of a new Contractor Rental and Aerial Division in Conley, Ga. This operation will allow Briggs Equipment to serve the Greater Atlanta market with a complete product mix of scissorslifts, boomlifts, telehandlers, and other construction and aerial equipment, valued at more than $5 million.

“Briggs Equipment – Atlanta has a strong market position in the materials handling side of business,” said Michael Armstrong, new branch manager of Briggs Equipment – Conley Aerial. “The new contractor rental branch will continue to deliver the unprecedented level of service that defines Briggs Equipment as well as the industry’s best brands and newest models.”

The company, which remains focused on steady, sustainable growth, says its U.S. Operations is on target to surpass last year’s revenues and expects to capture a projected $245 million in 2008. It cites the main drivers contributing to its sales growth as store expansion and rental fleet investment.

“In our business, historical trends show that when capital expense funding is limited, customers look even more to equipment rental for solutions,” said Terry Lakner, regional manager – Contractor Rental and Aerial. “At a time where many of our competitors have closed facilities, we are uniquely positioned to expand and invest in our rental fleet.”

Established in 1896 as the Briggs-Weaver Machinery Co. and later purchased by Charles Sammons in 1952, Briggs Equipment became a separate working operation of the Sammons Enterprises in 1996. Headquartered in Dallas, Briggs Equipment is No. 20 on the RER 100.
