Shell Shields Compressor From Jobsite Accidents

Atlas Copco has taken the idea of hardhat protection and extended it to its equipment. The XAS 185 JD7 HardHat portable air compressor is covered with a polyethylene shell that minimizes wear, resists dents, rust, corrosion and fading.

“Unlike the typical steel shell on most compressors, the HardHat side panels and canopy won't need replacing or painting straight through to the day it's rotated out of the fleet,” says Attila Madarasz, product marketing manager for Atlas Copco Compressors. “Because of the HardHat's lower cost of ownership, rental company owners will notice a return on investment.”

A durable 4024TF270 John Deere 4-cylinder, 49-hp diesel engine and Atlas Copco's patented rotary screw air-end generate free-air delivery of 185 cfm. Rear-mounted controls and couplers are recessed for protection, which allows technicians ease-of-maintenance and quick access to key filters and fluid levels. Weighing in at just over 2,000 pounds, the unit allows for easy towing and on-site moving. The balance of the HardHat makes it safe for one person to hook up to the machine and move about the jobsite, according to the manufacturer.
