Rammer

A new range of Rammer compact hydraulic hammers features three models that are suitable for use with mini excavators and other compact carriers in the 0.7- to 4-ton operating weight class. The new hammers feature a trapezoidal tool that offers benefits over traditional small hammer tools, according to the company. The hammers are offered with a range of mechanical and hydraulic mounting options, with or without a mounting bracket or quick coupler for optimum availability and utilization.

Pierce Flanigan III, president and owner of P. Flanigan & Sons, Baltimore, Md., has been using Rammer hammers since 1984. The company recently replaced a portion of the runway at Baltimore-Washington International Airport and used Rammer hammers to break pavement. Flanigan says Rammer hammers are reliable and much more productive than the three gravity drop hammers he had been using. “The gravity hammers would break down all the time,” he says. “Then we replaced them with one Rammer S 56 hammer. That one S 56 could exceed the production of all three gravity hammers.”

Rice Hydro

Rice Hydro introduces the new HPU-9/20, a hydraulic-driven power pack offering 9 gpm up to 2,000 psi. Unique to the Rice HPU-9/20 is the ability to self-control flow and pressure. The adjustable gpm and psi create many possibilities for the operation of hydraulic tools such as concrete saws, breakers, chain saws and post pullers.

James Estes of the Cubix/Ormsby House in Carson City, Nev., used the HPU-9/20 for breaking up the concrete curbs and sidewalks, as well as swimming pool decks, footings and for chipping rocks. “We liked the portability of this unit,” Estes says. “You could take this unit anywhere; since it was on wheels you did not have to lift it up and move it, you just rolled it. It would also fit into just about anywhere.”

MacKissic

The Easy Auger from MacKissic offers 275 foot-pounds of torque with an auger speed of 145 rpm. This auger features the only fully hydraulic, self-propelled auger in the industry that can be quickly switched from wheel drive to free wheel for towing, according to the company. The towing system is easy to use and tows from the engine end to provide proper weight distribution and tongue weight. The hitch attaches with two easy-to-remove pins and does not require a bulky tow bar system. The 20-inch tires are hub-mounted for easy service, and at 34-inches wide, provide towing stability at highway speeds.

Atlas Copco

Atlas Copco offers a complete line of 15 hydraulic breakers spanning impact classes from 200 to 15,000 foot-pounds. The units are separated into three categories: light Penta Breaker (PB) series, the Medium Breaker (MB) series and the Heavy Breaker (HB) series. All hydraulic breaker attachments feature Krupp percussion technology. The VibroSilenced damping system reduces excess vibration and noise during operation. Elastic elements between the percussion mechanism and guide system provide full acoustic insulation, reducing noise by up to 18 dBA compared with other guide systems.

Huskie Hydraulic Hammer

Huskie Hydraulic Hammer's Series II breakers includes models from HH150-2 through HH1000-2 with impact energies from 200 foot/pounds to 1,200 foot/pounds. While some of the hammers sport greater energies than Series I models of the same number, all Huskie Hammers with impact energies up to 8,000 foot/pounds still offer users improved serviceability thanks to a significant reduction in total parts. Huskie Hammers also provide one of the best power-to-weight ratios in the industry, according to the company.

Stanley Hydraulic Tools

The MB 956 mounted breaker, at 1,200 foot/pounds, has an increase in hitting power over its predecessor, the MB 856 without adding significant weight. The 956 features a direct-acting nitrogen chamber operating at low pressure for long-term reliability. The MB 956 is fully boxed and supported by durable, urethane upper, side and lower bumpers for vibration dampening. With use of an additional air line, the breaker can be converted for use in underwater environments. Weighing in at about 1,050 pounds, the MB 956 is designed for use on rubber tired backhoe loaders and excavators weighing from 14,000 to 26,000 pounds.
