Portable Power, a business unit of Ingersoll-Rand, introduces a new 290 cfm compressor with innovations such as a dual pressure regulator that offers contractors two pressure settings for a variety of applications. Parts from the VHP290 can be used on other Ingersoll-Rand compressor models and will also have the same configuration so they can be exchanged anywhere in the world. Additional features include glow plugs, low fuel alarms, low-fuel shut down, water/fuel separator, inline fuel filters and a fuel tank that boasts a run capacity of at least nine hours.

Mi-T-M Corp.'s portable air compressor, the AC1-PH65-08M features a 6.5 horsepower Honda OHV engine, single-stage compressor head with aluminum head and crankcase, and 12-inch flywheel designed for extra cooling and longer life. It provides 10.4 cfm at 100 psi. Other standard features include a large canister intake filter, 14-gauge powder-coated belt guard, pneumatic tires, powder-coated 8-gallon twin tank receivers and a discharge line unloader for added safety.

Sullivan-Palatek offers its model D210Q6, which is available with a John Deere model 4045 or a Caterpillar model 3054 diesel engine. The unit produces 210 cubic feet per minute and is available in either a 125 psi or 150 psi configuration. The M 56 Mobilair portable compressor from Kaeser Compressors has a Torsion bar suspension system, oversized tires and a compact design. The unit delivers 200 cfm at 100 psig and is also available in pressures to 145 psig. Thomas Industries

Available from ½ horsepower through 2 horsepower, the Vortex air compressor from Thomas Industries features an enclosed V crankcase with 90-degree offset piston cylinders. With 86.5 percent efficiency at open flow and 53.4 percent efficiency at 100 psig, the compressor provides efficiencies 10 to 12 percent higher than conventional units. Also, the enclosed crankcase is quieter and the balanced 90-degree V design minimizes vibration and allows for full pressure starts. It provides an open flow rate up to 12.75 cfm, maximum continuous pressure up to 125 psig and maximum restart pressure to 125 psig.

DeWalt introduces a new family of electric and gasoline powered air compressors designed for professional contractors. Styles range from portable hand-carry worksite units to wheelbarrow-style models for high-volume output. Designed with the Emglo air compressor company, the compressors feature cast iron oil-lubricated pumps for durability. Air output ranges from 4.5 to 16.2 cfm at 100 psi. Air tank capacities range from 4 to 17 gallons and include quick-drain ball valves for easy and thorough draining.

Atlas Copco

A John Deere diesel engine drives the XAS96JD air compressor from Atlas Copco, and gull-wing doors allow easy access to perform routine maintenance. Computer-generated rotor profiles optimize airflow, and thumbscrews have been used on the access panel to the cooler for easy serviceability. The monocoque frame assembly and torsion style suspension ensures a sturdy machine. The compressor has a 52-inch track width for easy maneuverability.

Senco Fastening Systems Products Inc. introduces the PC2014 6.5-horsepower Honda Engine wheelbarrow oil splash compressor. The professional oil splash pump, steel braided hose, 18-gauge steel belt guide and low rpm idle control features are designed to reduce vibration and extend the operating life of the model. The compressor delivers 12.4 cfm at 40 psi and 10.4 cfm at 100 psi and a maximum pressure of 125, and its after cooler feature cools the hose air after it leaves the pump. The 48-second pump-up time and 12-second recovery time ensures that the compressor will be ready when it's needed.
